No matter your style of gaming, from compact tenkeyless keyboards to wireless connectivity options – Corsair K100 RGB offers impressive lighting customization through their iCUE software.
This keyboard employs optical switches, which are ideal for gaming because they eliminate one of the factors that impede mechanical keyboard performance: debounce. Furthermore, this model boasts low latency responses and customizable per-key RGB backlighting options.
1. HyperX Alloy Origins
HyperX has created an impressive niche in PC gaming peripherals with their premium yet budget-conscious products, like their Alloy Origins keyboard – boasting a sturdy metal frame, vibrant RGB lighting, programmability via their NGenuity software, and new in-house switches.
These new switches feel fantastic and provide a slight upgrade over traditional Cherry MX Blues by shortening key travel. While most gamers won’t notice the difference when typing regularly, for twitch-intensive games like MOBAs or FPSs the shorter travel can make all the difference in performance.
The Alloy Origins is a compact 60% mechanical keyboard that offers reliable performance, great looks and nearly unlimited customization possibilities with their NGenuity software. Unfortunately, its only drawbacks include limited preset options and backlighting effects.
2. Razer BlackWidow V4 Pro
Takeover from our previous favorite, the Razer Deathstalker V2 Pro, comes a minimalist keyboard. Utilizing Orange tactile mechanical switches for increased responsiveness during gaming sessions. Furthermore, this TenKeyLess board boasts an incredible max polling rate of 8000Hz allowing your keys to report back more frequently to your computer, keeping latency low for instantaneous decisions during game sessions.
This keyboard offers an eye-catching design with its playful visual style and playful features such as plush wrist rest with pastel-colored accents and underglow strips along its edges, five backlit macro buttons down one side of its chassis, programmable Command Dial in its top right corner and five backlit macro buttons lining one side – all perfect features to impress serious gamers. Despite its higher price point, this gaming keyboard packs plenty of features and will delight gamers of any skill level.
3. Higround Basecamp 65
Higround’s Basecamp 65 TKL keyboard stands out from its peers thanks to several distinctive features. First off, its SteelSeries OmniPoint 2.0 switches feature adjustable actuation that can be tuned down to within 0.1mm for an even more personalized experience.
The company managed to incorporate an OLED display and impressive per-key RGB lighting. Furthermore, key remapping and N-key rollover with antighosting features were available as well as per-key remappings.
Opal’s Gateron KS-37 switches are also hot-swappable and boast box-style stems which are more resistant to dust and grime accumulation than other switches, with smooth linear feel with medium spring tension.
4. SteelSeries Apex 3 TKL
The SteelSeries Apex 3 TKL is an innovative wired keyboard, offering variable switch actuation points so that you can fine-tune where keypresses register on its surface.
SteelSeries Engine allows for further customization through its 10-zone RGB lighting, offering more customization options to FPS gamers who rely on millisecond accuracy to win matches. The result is an ultra-responsive keyboard designed for FPS players counting milliseconds to win their battles – perfect for FPS gaming where every millisecond counts! Plus, users can take full advantage of customization through SteelSeries Engine!
This keyboard boasts a playful visual style with its plush, cloud-shaped wrist rest and pastel-colored accents, providing a playful aesthetic and playful visual style. Although this model doesn’t provide as many customizable features as our top pick, its low latency and overall gaming performance still make this an excellent option for most gamers.
5. Redragon K552
Redragon offers a tenkeyless keyboard featuring blue switches and a small TKL footprint, boasting playful visual styling at an extremely reasonable price point. Unfortunately, no software exists for macro programming or customizing RGB lighting features, making this model great out-of-the-box unit!
This gaming keyboard boasts full anti-ghosting, which was evident during our testing in Destiny 2 and Final Fantasy XIV. No missing or duplicate key presses were ever detected even when repeatedly hitting multiple keys at once. Unfortunately, however, there are no dedicated media keys or Windows key lock hotkey and its cable only stretches 6′ long; otherwise it makes an excellent budget gaming keyboard with a relatively high base incline which promotes natural typing.
